Holiday entertaining made super easy !

So last night we had some friends come over , well it is after all the festive season and the weather is fantastic here in Mumbai. It was sort of a last minute plan and there was not much time to plan the meal so we decided to keep it simple & yummy & were thrilled to know that they were a super hit.

We want to share some recipes with you , so that you can reach into the pantry and make these yummy food items with simple ingredients and not much time ! We serve this dip with Chips , or if you want it to be a healthy snack you could serve chilled Carrot & Cucumber sticks with it !

Yummy & Easy to make dip

For dessert we served simple Vanilla Ice Cream which bought in the market along with home made Maldon Chocolate Sauce that had our guests asking for more . The recipe is so simple that you can make it easily without any stress even if you’re an amateur cook .

We used semi sweet chocolate but you can use sweetened dark or bittersweet chocolate that you have at home. In fact you can even mix leftover pieces of chocolate. You can use any liquid such as milk , half – and-half or even coffee to add that flavor.

We add Maldon Salt Flakes at times to make it taste different and add that extra flavor to your desert.

The basic trick is knowing that you start with a small amount of liquid and add more as necessary until the sauce has the perfect consistency for your purpose. 


Any amount of dark, semisweet, or bittersweet chocolate , chopped medium fine

Milk, half and half, heavy cream or other liquid that tastes good with chocolate you could even use a little Baileys!!

Maldon salt for taste , Sugar or butter if you want to add it .

Method : 

Weigh the chocolate and put it in a stainless steel bowl. (1 cup of chocolate chopped medium fine weighs about    6 ounces).

Add 1 tablespoon of liquid for each ounce of chocolate.

Melt the chocolate via the double broiler method and stir frequently until the chocolate is melted.

If the sauce looks curdled or too thick stir in more liquid gradually until the sauce is smooth and has the consistency you are looking for.

If you are planning to serve the sauce over ice cream, spoon a little “test” over some ice cream to see if it hardens just the right amount, or too much. Adjust the sauce with more liquid as necessary.

When the sauce looks perfect, taste and consider adding a some Maldon flakes over ! Voila your quick & easy chocolate sauce is ready to serve over yummy Vanilla Ice Cream.
